Hand in Hand

It takes a village to raise a child. These words hold true from generation to generation. From ancient times to today, children have needed a social context for growth – and a place to come of age in character and knowledge. For different homeschooling families, this “village” comprises various combinations of family, co-ops, churches, neighborhoods, and online communities.

At Kairos, we strive to provide constant support in every facet for both our parents and students. Let us be your village! Through phone calls, emails, texts, and social media, we reach out to our families on a regular basis. Through CLASS Days, field trips, special classes, and academic support, we walk with you, hand in hand, on your homeschool journey.

Homeschooling does not need to be a lonely endeavor! Let your child grow in the right village today.

#RelationshipGoals

“What about socialization?”

The question is often repeated to every single homeschool family, regardless of age, time, or location. Well-meaning loved ones often worry that children who do not regularly attend a traditional classroom will end up with no friends.

That feared result could not be further from the truth.

By allowing children to spend time both with each other and with their families, homeschooling is the perfect opportunity to experience both vertical and horizontal socialization. At Kairos, families meet at least once a month to let students enjoy time with other students. Through age-integrated activities, children become friends with both other kids and adults. Parents learn from each other as they share teaching tips and special materials.

Friends don’t always come into our lives the way we expect. The joy of homeschooling can be shared among teachers, parents, and students alike!

A Multilingual Experience

Using English as the primary mother tongue, Kairos helps our students to grow up in a multilingual environment. Science, Math, Bible, and all other academic subjects come with complete English instructions, while Chinese and Filipino are introduced as second languages at early levels. To personalise the experience further, families are also permitted to choose between Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Prepare your child to live in the world’s global village!

Help Where Help’s Needed

As a provider helmed by experienced homeschoolers, Kairos focuses our efforts in the areas where homeschooling families need the most assistance. By targeting specific needs in the homeschooling community, we hope to continue providing an affordable, supportive, and multifaceted homeschool education.

1. Credit. One primary need for homeschoolers in the Philippines involves recognition by the Department of Education. Through a partnership with a Chinese, Christian private school, we offer academic credit for all our students’ work. Kairos graduates may transfer schools or apply to college just as any private school student would.

2. Curriculum. With the myriad of education choices facing each family, Kairos helps by providing a basic, comprehensive curriculum. Each book in each subject is curated by seasoned homeschoolers based upon relevance, worldview, quality, and suitability for the homeschool setting. A holistic, inclusive program allows families to focus on implementation and teaching.

3. Community. Through regular CLASS Days, field trips, and other joint activities, Kairos helps homeschoolers find like-minded company for their homeschooling journeys. Both students and parents can meet and partner with other Kairos families to share tips, encouragement, friendship, and ideas.

4. Capacity. By consolidating multiple families’ resources, Kairos invests in a school library, parent training, and non-academic classes to round-out the homeschooling experience. We procure academic supplies, ones that one family may want yet hesitate to purchase, for all families to use.

As we continue the journey through our first school year, may the Lord use each of the above avenues to enable families, one after another.

The Story of Kairos

God’s story for Kairos began when the United Evangelical Church of Malabon considered the establishment of a homeschool ministry in the middle months of 2014. During those months of prayer, the church board noted the absence of a school in the Philippines that meets the needs of families who want the following four components in their children’s education.

  1. Homeschooling
  2. Christian
  3. Chinese
  4. Recognized by the Department of Education

Prayer led to purpose and planning, and those elements eventually culminated in the establishment of the Kairos Homeschool Academy school board by the latter half of 2015. Not wanting to rush haphazardly into the field, Kairos board and staff have since prepared curriculum, facilities, schedules, and materials for homeschooling parents in anticipation of enrollment in 2016.

By God’s grace, our first school year has started today as we shared the complete curriculum, learning materials, and opening seminar with our parents. May the school year being glory to our Lord!

Kairos Core Values

In the midst of a changing world, it is our values that ground us most. Kairos believes in the following four core values, and we seek to uplift them in all of our dealings.

  • Grounded Christian Faith. Kairos Homeschool Academy desires to establish and develop a vibrant, genuine, personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the life of each staff member, parent, and student.
  • Holistic Biblical Worldview. We build each part of our curriculum aiming to raise students who think biblically and perceive all things in the light of the gospel.
  • Love for Learning. Kairos Homeschool Academy encourages all staff members, parents, and students to passionately pursue learning and growth, both academically and in all other areas of life.
  • Commitment to Excellence. We commit to providing only the very best in all school endeavors and to expect the same excellence from all of our students.

As we start a new school year, may these values be with us all!

An Affordable Reality

Kairos believes that every child deserves a high-quality education, and we wish to make it an affordable reality for every Christian home. As a non-profit organization, Kairos aims to help homeschooling families by providing all the essentials for each grade.

For every grade level, tuition includes all the necessary books and materials – allowing families to focus on implementing the lessons and spending time with their children. While a large portion of tuition goes towards learning materials, the rest supplies families with a fully-stocked library and various facilities. Students are given the chance to own brand new books for their learning journey and to experience all required school activities with no additional charge.

At Kairos, the curriculum for each subject is specifically curated for homeschoolers by previous homeschoolers themselves. We believe in sharing only the very best with the next generation, and we ensure that our curriculum prepares students for the competitive 21st century.

As our school parents raise their children, we partner with them by providing support in materials, advice, and personal care. There’s no place like homeschooling! Contact us or visit us soon, and let us share the Kairos reality with you!

Nursery Program

The Kairos nursery program is designed to assist families with children 3-4 years old as they begin formal homeschooling. With no quarter exams or compulsory class attendance, nursery students may learn at their own pace and with the methods most suited to their personalities.

The nursery program uses a “checklist approach” that allows parents to guide a child’s progress organically. Kairos provides all books and materials at the beginning of the school year, and students may master the content at any time during the year.

Nursery students will also undergo four assessment sessions throughout the year. During each session, our resident teachers and administrators will evaluate the child’s progress in physical aptitude, behavioral development, language skills, cognitive abilities, and academic readiness.
