The Accountability Edge

Whether academically, socially, or behaviorally, Kairos works with our families by setting standards and helping our students to reach them. Quarterly deadlines help families stay on track with their studies. Conduct evaluations by our teachers provide feedback on children’s social and behavioral progress.

In turn, our families inform us of how well the curriculum is working. We meet and discuss things regularly with our parents regarding each student’s progress and needs. We conclude each school year with a survey of our families to know what else we can do to help them.

It takes a village to raise a child, and we are privileged to be that village to all our families!

Family Ties

One of the greatest benefits of homeschooling is the amount of time parents get to spend with their kids. There are ups and downs in every family’s journey, but going through those ups and downs together is what makes each family unit stronger than it ever was before.

Siblings grow close from being each other’s playmates, parents are always present to guide and to cheer their children on, and even a trip to the grocery is an educational experience!

There is no greater reward than being able to walk hand in hand with your children as they discover the adventure of life.

What Families Have to Say

We asked our families, parents and students alike, what makes Kairos special to them. There’s always something different for everyone!

“Kairos has helped our family homeschool by providing all the materials, resources, and support that we need to start and learn how to homeschool.” -Lynette S., Parent

“Kairos quarter exams keep us on track and accountable.” -Abigail C., Parent

“I learned in Kairos that Jesus is powerful. I also learned to obey and follow rules of the school.” -Sophie T., Grade 1

“I learned things like respecting others, being polite, sharing and caring.” -Iain S., Grade 2

“I like playing ukulele, swimming, and playing games. I learned to build with Lego.” -Tyler C., Kindergarten

A Single Step

What can a homeschool parent do to kickstart a school year well? A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Don’t let the idea of a long school year daunt you!

  1. Organize Your Materials. Start the school year with everything in order. Separate teacher and student materials. Note quarterly deadlines.
  2. Motivate Your Child. Something as simple as a new pencil can get a child excited for the new school year!
  3. Set a Schedule. Student needs and parents needs change over the years. Have a general idea planned for how your family’s schedule will work for this upcoming school year.
  4. Pray for Your Family. Never underestimate the role of prayer. Human hands can make plans, but only God can lead them to fruition!

The Right Fit

Every homeschool provider serves a unique sector in our community. Hand in hand with our partner church the United Evangelical Church of Malabon, Kairos aims to help families with the following goals:

In Kairos, we emphasize the need for families to have strong Christian values. We believe that children should be brought up in the Word and taught to view all things from a Christian perspective.

In Kairos, we nurture our students to learn Filipino-Chinese culture. We speak in multiple languages to our students. We celebrate the unique heritage of our Tsinoy community.

In Kairos, we strive for high academic standards and do our best in every way to help our families equip their children with the highest skills and breadth of knowledge they need in life.

These goals govern every aspect of Kairos’ decisions as a ministry and community, and we are privileged to partner with families who believe in the same things!

Counting Down

All families expecting to reserve existing slots or submit applications for their children must do so by May 31, 2019, to be eligible to participate in School Year 2019-2020. Students who have been accepted to the program will be able to join their classmates in starting the school year on July 24, 2019.

Don’t miss the cut-off date! Kairos looks forward to journeying together with your family as you enter the world of homeschooling.

Is Homeschooling for Me?

Homeschooling brings with it the advantages of increased time with family, one-on-one instruction, consistent discipline, and logistic flexibility. It allows children to have time for hobbies, life skills, and diverse interests. Its accompanying blessings are innumerable.

For families who wish to start homeschooling, however, the process can seem daunting. Mistakes or negligences can snowball in major problems over months and years. Demands in other areas of life make it difficult for parents to find time to provide quality education for their children.

Kairos helps our families by providing a comprehensive curriculum that creates a backbone of academic fundamentals. Assessments and exams help families track their children’s progress. Regular seminars allow parents to receive training and trade ideas. We handle the paperwork, curation, and grading to allow for families to focus on the teaching itself.

Homeschooling is never easy, but it is so much easier to start it right with a caring provider on your side.

When Do We Start?

The Philippine Department of Education requires children to begin formal education in Kindergarten by age 5. In practice, children start learning the moment they are born.

Babies learn to lift their heads, to turn in bed, to crawl, to listen, and to recognize people. Toddlers learn to speak, to listen, to walk, and to obey.

Formal education allows families to have a set of guidelines regarding how to equip their children for life. For children who enroll at 3 years of age, Kairos provides a nursery program that introduces pre-writing, pre-reading, and pre-mathematics skills. To allow children to adjust better to the academic demands of Kindergarten, Kairos recommends a Pre-K program for students to start their formal education journey at 4 years of age.

Seize the day and give your children the educational head start they deserve!

Taking Education Home

Families choose to homeschool for a variety of reasons. Some choose to shape their children’s character in a better Christian environment. Some aim to maximize their children’s academic potential. Some others feel called to this path to meet logistical, medical, or spiritual concerns.

Regardless of the reasons God calls our families to homeschool, Kairos serves them by providing a core curriculum and structured system within which families may learn and explore in the ways best suited for them. Students thrive in a loving environment, and we let our families focus on the teaching and caring while our administration does the footwork for them.

In the Kairos system, students get to learn both at home and at school, in a group and as individuals. Learning gets to happen whenever and wherever suits it best.
